questions and answers

legacy charges

As a professional advisory firm, we charge an hourly rate which varies according to the type of services provided. Most consulting work is charged as a straight hourly fee, whereas larger projects or total foundation management is usually estimated to arrive at an agreed upon project fee that serves as either a minimum charge or a "not-to-exceed." Because every donor's situation is unique, we will take great care to thoroughly understand your needs before quoting a project.

length of service

It depends on the project. If it is fulfilling a single gift, the process
could take a matter of days or weeks. If it is an ongoing project like
managing an annual giving program or operating a foundation, the
arrangement usually begins looking out a year with checkpoints
and specific objectives throughout the year.

philanthropic needs

It is not our intention to replace any of your trusted advisors,
but work with them to fulfill your philanthropic goals. So it is
likely that your attorney and accountant would remain involved
utilizing their strengths to realize your philanthropic goals.
We are not accountants, but we know the tax ramifications of giving.
We are not attorneys, but we understand the legal detail necessary
for giving. As gift fulfillment specialist we can get everyone pulling
in the same direction for your giving.

confidentiality

Experiences from other clients can attest to the utmost
confidentiality of our staff. References are always available
at your request. Some of our clients give anonymously,
so we understand this notion of confidentiality. When engaging
us this subject is talked about openly and agreement is reached
as to the degree of confidentiality you wish. We know that
trust is something that is built over time. Beyond confidentiality
in our relationships Legacy uses solid security systems in its
data management. Our offices are well-organized and secure.

charities

We work for the donor, pure and simple. That is why we
have chosen not to get into the asset management business.
We understand how to invest charitable assets well and
have selected a few high end very qualified managers who
understand it also. We will facilitate and monitor a relationship
if you wish.

Now regarding the charities. Once again we work for the donor.
Charities know up front that we are not grant makers ourselves.
We do seek the best charitable investments for our clients, however.
